The Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198) has been superseded by the new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104). This means that the old qualification can no longer be delivered.
The new qualification builds on the old BSZ40198 and more accurately reflects current teaching trends and assessment practices to mee the skill formation needs of trainers and assessors who provide nationally recognised training.
TAA40104 is made up of fourteen units of competency, thirteen core and one elective unit. This differs from the eight core units in the old BSZ40198. The certificate course has been divided into four Program Areas. They are:
- Vocational Education and Training (VET) Environment
- Learning Design
- Learning Delivery
- Assessment and Review
Pegasus Training has developed three options in the delivery of the new TAA40104. We can deliver the full qualification, individual units of competency and also a bridging course for those who hold the old BSZ40198 training up to the new TAA qualifications. We can deliver all options in either a face-to-face format, self-paced online delivery, or a blended version of face-t-face and online.
The full course face to face is conducted over 12 workshops covering a period of 19 weeks.
The full course online is available and can be completed at a pace that suits you in relation to time or budget. You may elect to purchase the full Cert IV TAA40104 course and pay for the full course at a reduced cost or purchase competency modules to complete at your own pace. There will be face-to-face assessments as part of the course; they will be conducted either at your workplace or at one of our training facilities.
Individual Modules of Competency can be completed online with a Statement of Attainment and a record of achievement issued after each completed module.

This unit specifies the competency required to work effectively in the policy and operating environment of the vocational education and training sector.
- (TAAENV402A) Foster and promote an inclusive learning culture
This unit specifies the competency required to foster and promote an environment, which supports inclusive work practices and learning culture.
- (TAAENV403A) Ensure a healthy and safe learning environment
This unit specifies the competency required to ensure the health, safety and welfare of learners and candidates.
- (TAADES401A) Use Training Packages to meet client needs
This unit specifies the competency required to use Training Packages and accredited courses as a tool to support industry, organisation or individual competency development needs.
- (TAADES402A) Design and develop learning programs
This unit specifies the competency required to conceptualise, design, develop and evaluate learning programs to meet an identified need for a group of learners, using appropriate criteria. Criteria may include endorsed competency standards and other specifications such as organisational performance standards, product equipment specifications and workplace procedures.
- (TAADEL401A) Plan and organise group-based delivery
This unit specifies the competency required to plan and organise training for individuals within a group.
- (TAADEL403A) Facilitate individual learning
This unit specifies the competency required to facilitate individual learning through a one-on-one relationship between a learner and facilitator.
- (TAADEL404A) Facilitate work-based learning
This unit specifies the outcomes required to use work effectively as a learning process.
- (TAAASS401A) Plan and organise assessment
This unit specifies the competence required to plan and organise the assessment process in a competency-based assessment system
- (TAAASS402A) Assess competence
This unit specifies the competence required to assess the competence of a candidate.
- (TAAASS403A) Develop assessment tools
This unit specifies the competence required to develop assessment tools.
- (TAAASS404A) Participate in assessment validation
This unit specifies the competence required to participate in an assessment validation process.
