- (MNCC1001A) Work Safely
This unit covers essential competencies and activities required to satisfy safe work practices. Elements covered are access and understand the site safety procedures, apply personal safety measures, apply operational safety measures, apply initial response first aid, maintain personal well being for job and identify and report incidence.
- (MNCC1005A) Comply with site work systems/procedures
This unit covers the mineworker’s contribution to planning, preparation and application of site safety and other management systems. Elements covered are plan and prepare for quality systems and apply work procedures to individual work activities.
- (MNCC1006A) Conduct local risk assessments
This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to apply basic risk control processes at a mine site. It includes the identification of hazards; assessing risk; identifying unacceptable risk; identifying/analysing and implementing risk treatment; and completing records and reports. Elements covered are identifying hazards, assess risk and identify unacceptable risk, identify, analyse and implement risk treatments, complete records and reports.
- (MNCC1007A) Communicate in the workplace
This unit covers the identification, access and use of communication systems by an individual on a mine site. Elements covered are identify and access mine communication equipment and systems and communicate using mine equipment and systems.
- (MNCO1032A) Isolate and access plant
This unit covers the isolation, access and restoration of mechanical plant. Elements covered are conduct access selection, isolate plant, complete written permit form and cancel procedure.
- (MNCG1004A) Respond to local emergencies and incidents
This unit covers the individual response to emergency or incident situations in any location within an opencut or underground mine. Elements covered are preparing for emergency procedures and respond to emergency or incident situations.
- (MNCG1025A) Access, update & retrieve simple computerised information
This unit covers the accessing, updating and retrieval of data held in a computer. Elements covered are preparing for work, access and update information, retrieve information, close file and shut down equipment.
- (MNCG1061A) Operate light vehicle
This unit covers the operation of light vehicles (up to 4.5 tonnes GVM) including the starting, driving and stopping and the conduct of operator checks and actions. Elements covered are plan and prepare for operations, operate light vehicle and carryout operator maintenance.
- (MNCG1068A) Test operational functions of mine vehicles & equipment
This unit covers the testing of vehicles and equipment to prove the functionality of operating systems. Elements covered are plan and prepare for testing, test vehicles and equipment and complete the testing sequence.

- (MNCO1018A) Conduct dozer operations
This unit covers the planned ripping, pushing and placing of materials using a dozer. Elements covered are plan and prepare for operations, operate dozer and carry out operator maintenance.
- (MNCO1027A) Conduct hydraulic shovel/excavator operations
This unit covers the removal of bulk material by either side casting or loading directly into a transport system using an excavator or hydraulic shovel. Elements covered are plan and prepare for operations, operate hydraulic shovel or excavator, relocate excavator/shovel and carry out operator maintenance.
- (BSBCMN313A) Maintain environmental procedures
This unit covers the maintenance and monitoring of the organisation’s environmental policies and procedures as an integral part of the organisation’s business operations. Those who work under instruction but have some autonomy in the workplace should undertake this unit. Elements covered are maintain workplace procedure, support continuous improvement and maintain recording procedures.
- (BSBFLM302A) Support leadership in the workplace

At this level, work will normally be carried out within known routines, methods and procedures which require exercise of some discretion and judgement. This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to develop, establish and maintain effective workplace relationships and networks. It covers the activities of communication and representation. At this level, work will normally be carried out within known routines, methods and procedures which require exercise of some discretion and judgement.
Elements covered are gather, convey and receive information and ideas, develop trust and confidence, build and maintain networks and relationships and manage difficulties to achieve positive outcomes.
- (BSBFLM304A) Participate in work teams
Frontline management has a key role in leading, participating in, facilitating and empowering work teams/groups within the context of the organisation. They play a prominent part in motivating, mentoring, coaching and developing team members, and in achieving team cohesion. At this level, work will normally be carried out within known routines, methods and procedures which require exercise of some discretion and judgement. Elements covered are participating in team planning, develop team commitment and cooperation, manage and develop team performance and participate in and facilitate the work team.
- (MNCG1005A) Conduct fire team operations
This unit covers the functions of a mine fire team member. Elements covered are plan and prepare for work, fight or contain fires and finalise the operation.
- (MNCG1013A) Apply initial response First Aid
This unit deals with the provision of essential First Aid, using basic life support measures, when responding to an emergency. The unit does not deal with complex incidents or casualties. Elements covered are assessing the situation, apply initial response First Aid and record and report incident.
- (MNCG1010A) Assess and implement life support systems and stabilise casualties
This unit covers the competency needed by rescue team members to safely gain access to casualties and use relevant equipment to implement life support techniques to stabilise casualties in situ before extrication. Elements covered are assess danger to rescuers, bystanders and casualty, access and cooperate with emergency services, gain access to casualty, assess casualties’ condition and implement life support systems, stabilise casualty in Situ, hand over to emergency services and restore and refurbish equipment to operational condition.
- (MNCG1011A) Extricate and transport people involved in incidents
This unit covers the operation of extrication equipment, the methods of extricating casualties and transporting them to a place of safety, in a mining surface operation. Elements covered are selecting extrication method, accessing and cooperating with emergency services, establishing extrication system, extricate casualty, re-assess condition of casualty and stabilise, transport casualty to appropriate facility, hand over to emergency services and restore and refurbish equipment to operational condition
