Hunter Training Initiative
The Hunter Training Initiative is a school based student vocational education training program aimed at providing financial support and guidance for senior VET students. The program is a Coal & Allied Community Trust, Pegasus Training and Industry & Education Partnership Initiative.
A financial incentive is paid throughout the duration of the two year project to the successful applicant. All Year 11, 2008 VET students are eligible to apply.
· Flexible program—students can move between employers
· There is no employment contract between the student and the employer
· An opportunity to trial new staff for employers and work experience for students.
· Training opportunity for staff to develop skills in mentoring and leadership
Requirements:
· Student must complete a seven week work placement program that consists of two weeks during school and five one week increments during schools holidays.
· Employers will assign a mentor for the duration of the work placement
Ensure that no employment contracts are made with the student prior to completion of the program, the student must stay in school
· Be available for meetings with the Hunter Training Initiative Coordinator to provide feedback on the students progress
· Provide a safe working environment
· Complete an Annual Employer Survey
